Current Favourites

Apologies for the lack of posts but I am finally back with a current favourites. As I have missed a couple monthly favourites I thought I would show you what I have been loving lately.

HAIRCARE
John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Moisturising shampoo and conditioner (Boots)
I recently reverted back to my brunette hair after having blonde put underneath. I therefore thought I'd try out a shampoo and conditioner specifically for brown hair. So far I am really liking the combination of these, they leave my hair really soft, shiny and manageable. It claims to bring out multi-dimensional brunette tones, I haven't noticed this as yet though.
Toni&Guy Prep, leave in conditioner (manageability and frizz control) (Boots)
I apply this before drying and it is a really nice leave in conditioner that doesn't weigh my hair down or make it greasy and smells lovely too.
Toni&Guy Prep, Smoothing Detangler (Anti-Breakage) (Boots)
I apply this also before drying and it just helps my hair not to tangle.
Loreal Mythic Oil (Glossybox)
I apply this to the ends of my hair when dry, this just adds shine and softness to my hair.
Toni&Guy shine gloss serum (Boots)
I use this if I don't use my mythic oil, its great for taming fly aways and to add shine to dry hair.
Denman Tangle Teezer (Boots)
I cannot rave about tangle teezers enough, they just brush through my hair so much easier than normal brushes. I prefer this one as it has a longer handle.

SKINCARE

No7 Beautiful Skin Melting Gel Cleanser (Normal/dry) (Boots)
This cleanser is just lovely, it is really gentle and takes all my makeup off with just a small amount of product.
Caudalie Beauty Elixir (Caudalie.com)
Now, this has been raved about EVERYWHERE and I was sceptical but I thought id give it a go and I love it, the main reason I love it is because it has really cleared up my blemishes and kept them at bay, I had to get used to the smell but now I don't mind it too much. You can use it both under and over makeup but I just apply a few sprays before my moisturiser morning and night.
No7 Beautiful Skin dry skin rescue moisturiser (Boots)
I use this when my skin is really dry and needs extra moisture. Its quite thick so I apply this at night when needed.
Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre (love-makeup.co.uk)
This is my everyday moisturiser andI  really like it, its just the right consistency, sinks into the skin quickly and keeps my skin hydrated.
Nivea Daily Essentials Rich Regenerating night cream (Boots)
This is quite new to me but I love it. Its really thick but doesn't feel it on the skin and I just wake up to my skin feeling really hydrated and smooth and I love the smell of Nivea products.
Boots Cucumber cleaning wipes
I use these wipes before using my cleanser and these work really well, smell great and don't cause breakouts.

MAKE-UP

Beauty Blender (ebay)
I had heard so much about this and thought Id give it a go but never did I think I would love this little thing but I do, I thought it was "just a makeup sponge" and thought it would never replace my brushes but it has, its amazing, you wet the sponge before using and it expands a little. It just applies foundation so flawlessly and is very helps it look more natural looking and as the sponge is wet it applies a dewy effect, I LOVE IT!
The Body Shop Vitamin C Energising Face Spritz
I apply this over my face after applying my makeup as I feel it takes away the powdery look and helps it to look dewy and fresh.
Clinique Superbalanced Makeup (27 Alabaster) (Boots)
I have never had a bad experience with Clinique foundations but this is by far the best, I love it, Its a great colour match, doesn't break me out, gives good coverage and works really well with my beauty blender.
Fashionista Ready-to-wear shine stopper loose powder (translucent) (Superdrug)
Nothing too much to say about this except its a good little setting powder.
Revlon Lip butter (055 cupcake) (Boots)
I love the texture of these and this is a really lovely light pink colour.
Revlon Matte lipstick (002 pink pout) (Boots)
Love this colour and matte finish.
Mac Hue
This is the perfect nude, so easy to wear.
Eco Tools angled brush (Boots)
This is a great brush for filling in eyebrows.
No7 Summer of dreams bronzer (Boots)
I really like this bronzer, it has slight shimmer but nothing too drastic.
Mac Studio Sculpt Concealer (nc15)
This is a great concealer for blemishes and under the eyes and doesn't crease. Its quite thick and I find it is best applied with fingers.
Maxfactor False Lash Effect Fushion (volume&length) (Boots)
This is AMAZING and is now my favourite mascara, I never knew my lashes could look so long and full until this mascara!
No7 nourishing lip shine (peach shade) (Boots)
This is like a lip gloss and lip balm in one, it feels lovely.
Collection 2000 shimmer shades (2 blushalicious) (Superdrug)
I love these shades individually and mixed together and stays on my skin all day.
E.L.F shimmering facial whip (spotlight)
This is great for highlighting the cheekbones, I love it.
Real Techniques stippling brush & blush brush (Boots)
As my beauty blender has now taken over my brushes these are the main brushes I use, I use the stippling brush for blusher (its especially good with cream blush) and the blush brush for powder.

NAILS

Essie Fiji (14)
Essie Cute as a button (73)
Models Own Hed Kandi - Ibiza mix (All Boots)
I love these three polishes at the moment, Essie polishes are great, apply so smoothly and last very well. This models own one is just gorgeous.

Have you tried any of these, what are your thoughts? Or have you seen something that you would like to now try?

Mac Face and Body Foundation Review

Mac Face and Body Foundation - C1
120ml £25.50

swatch

I have wanted to try this foundation for a long time but was in too minds. I had read reviews etc and was aware that the coverage was low. I hate foundations which are cakey and much prefer lighter foundations such as tinted moisturisers but I don't have the most amazing skin so was sceptical. After a lot of humming and hahing I thought with a good concealer Id give it a go. So as a treat from my boyfriend I went for it and I am so glad I did. I know us girls are always trying new things and even when we find something we like we cant help trying other things but I can safely say I love this foundation and this will now always be my fall back foundation.

Product
Its £25.50 but you get 120ml (its seriously humongous!) I'm in the colour C1 (my local mac counter doesn't actually stock it so had to buy it online, luckily the shade was right, phew)

Mac says: It is a water based/water resistant foundation that provides natural coverage for face and body, provides sheer, natural looking coverage in an easy to blend formula, it contains several emollients to help moisturise the skin.

How I apply
As its water based you have to give it a good shake before applying. The consistency is very watery but as you blend it into the skin it thickens up. It does have a smell to it but isn't anything horrible and it doesn't stay on the skin. I first applied this with a real technique buffing brush but have recently found that applying with the fingers leaves amazing coverage and an even better finish.

Finish
It is definitely a very natural looking foundation that gives a glowing dewy finish. Its definitely a 'my skin but better' foundation.

My thoughts
Overall I really love this foundation, even though the coverage isn't high I love the finish it gives and I just use concealer on the areas I need it and its perfect.  Its so lightweight, moisturising and easy to apply. I definitely recommend powder (mainly t zone area) as it can look overly shiny in these areas but when left on its own on the cheeks the glow is really pretty. My skin type is usually dry/sensitive and this hasn't affected my skin at all unlike some foundations in the past. The bottle is huge so should last quite a while. I have found it long lasting, I usually just have to top up with a little powder later in the day to avoid looking too shiny.I haven't used this yet as a body foundation but know many people love it for that too.

Hope this has helped anyone who is thinking about purchasing this or you are now just want to give it a try, my advice....buy it now :)

Soap & Glory's Wish Upon a Jar Review

Wish upon a jar, 50ml, £15.00

So as you know I got this for my birthday last month. I wanted to try this ever since I heard about it on MissBudgetBeauty youtube channel . It made a firm place on my birthday list and with this in hand my boyfriend first thought he was looking for a soap because of the name, ha!

Here's what it claims:

- Boots moisture levels
- Fights fine lines and wrinkles
-Hide flaws
-Moisture boosting

With Youthfake diamond spheres to illuminate the skin and minimise the visual aspects of lines, wrinkles, shadows, large pores, pigmentation and discolouration.

For best results use under or as your facial moisturiser twice daily for 21 days straight. When the course is complete revert back to your favourite daily moisturiser.

I think you then leave it for 3 months and again repeat the 21 day treatment.

So, first of all I used this as directed for 21 days, twice a day, which I'm quite surprised that I didn't forget at least once (yay me!). My skin type is dry/sensitive. First off, don't be put off by the price, it is quite expensive but as its a 21 day treatment it will last a long time and you only need a small amount. First of all I think the packaging is cool. The cream itself is pink and smells amazing, it smells just like Terry's chocolate orange so if your not a fan of that smell this wouldn't be something for you however I love it! The cream is a thick consistency but doesn't feel thick or greasy on the skin.

After 21 days of using this I absolutely love it. It has definitely improved my skin in terms of texture and appearance. My skin feels so smooth after using this and just generally looks healthier. As I am only 24 I luckily don't have fine lines or wrinkles as yet  but I do have a few areas of acne scarring and the appearance of this has definitely improved. Also, whilst using this I didn't get any blemishes which is something I usually do suffer with.

In my opinion this cream is AMAZING it definitely helps your skin look and feel better, I don't have anything bad to say about the cream at all.

Hope this has helped anyone who has been thinking about buying it.

Has anyone else tried this, thoughts?

Chanel Vs ELF cream blush

E.L.F Cream blush in Temptress, Soleil Tan De Chanel

I thought Id compare these two products, even though they are from completely different ends of the spectrum are a similar sort of product and thought it would be interesting to see if the infamous Soleil Tan Del Chanel really is "all that".

So here are the products side by side (please excuse the mess my brush has made to the products)

Here they are swatched, ELF on the left and then Chanel on the right

ELF
£6.50 - 15g
Packaging - Square glass pot, pretty basic but I do kind of like this about ELF products
Product itself - Mousse consistency, brown (no orange tone), no shimmer, blends easily
How I apply - Any blush brush
Pay off - Good pigmentation, no orange
Smell - no smell really
Overall - I really like this product and will definitely get more colours in the future. It doesn't blend as well as the chanel as its not as creamy but does give a really nice bronzed effect and for £6.50 you really cant complain.

Chanel
£29 - 30g
Packaging - Plastic round tub, is pretty mainly because of the chanel logo
Product itself - Creamy consistency (so smooth), brown/orange, no shimmer, blends really easily
How I apply - ELF stipple brush
Pay off - I find this very orange toned and find its only controlled when using my Elf stipple brush I really have to be careful not to add too much product or it looks like I am just walking around without my make up blended in properly or I have fake tanned very badly!!
Smell - does have a smell to it, I do like it its not horrible but could maybe bother some people
Overall - I really do like this product, I prefer the creamy consistency rather then the elf's mousse consistency but find when its applied properly its really pretty but if applied wrong its really really wrong and its not hard to do this because the product itself is just very orange toned. In my opinion I wouldn't say its worth as much hype as it has had over the years but is still a nice product even with that said.

This is obviously just my opinion but thought it might be helpful to those who are maybe contemplating buying the Chanel bronzer. As I said I do really like the product but that maybe its labelled as amazing more because of its brand than anything else and maybe other cream bronzer are just as nice.

Have you tried either of these, what are your thoughts?

Spring nails

As the UK has warmed up a little Ive been reaching for lighter shades for my nails, I love the pastel trend especially on the nails, these are some of my favourite colours at the moment.

 Barry M Peach Melba (318), Barry M Berry I/C (308), 17 Sweet Kisses, Barry M Blueberry I/C (306), Barry M Mint Green (304)

Peach Melba and Berry Icecream are definitely the ones I reach for the most, I never get bored of them.

I apply Seche Vite (dry fast top coat) over the top and I could not rave about this product enough, its amazing. I finally got around to buying it a few weeks ago and it is the best top coat I have ever used. I can go a week without my polish barely chipping and I'm really not one for waiting around while the polish  dries and I end up annoyingly smudging it but with this it dries almost instantly *love*

What are your favourite nail polishes at the moment?

February Favourites

So its nearly the end of February and these are the products I have been loving this month.

 Simple hydrating light moisturiser
The consistency of this is very much what the name says, 'light' but still  really moisturising, its a great everyday moisturiser.

 Soap & Glory Hocus Focus
Ive done a whole post dedicated to this recently and as mentioned I love to wear this under my foundation.

Herbel Essences Beautiful ends intensive mask
This leaves my hair so soft and sleek, this is the split end protection one, its really inexpensive, I will definitely be trying out some of their others.

Revlon matte lipstick - 002 pink pout
I was after this for a while and got it at the end of January and have been loving it, do like it on its own but also like wearing it with a gloss over the top, usually a pink shade by Barry M.

 Bourjois highlighting powder - 53
This is the white version of the chocolate bronzer, I use this for the tops of my cheekbones just to add a subtle shimmer.

Soleil tan de Chanel
The more I use this the more I love it, it can look very over the top if im not careful as I am so pale, I have found the best way for me to apply it is to use my ELF stipple brush which gives a lighter application.

What's your favourites this month?

Sleek blush by 3 (limited edition)

So, I was browsing around Superdrug and came across this beauty, The limited edition Sleek blush by 3.

 Lace (367), Crochet, Guipure, Chantilly

There are five different ones and I settled on this one as I found this was the only one where I liked all three shades and I found the others were quite dark. Ive always thought about getting a Sleek blush but never purchased one for some reason but loved that with this there are three different shades in a nice little compact palate.

Have you tried these, Which one is your favourite?

Soap & Glory's Hocus Focus

Soap & Glory Hocus Focus instant visual flaw-softening lotion

The bottle reads
'use Hocus Focus alone as a cheekbone highlighter, mixed with moisturiser as a gorgeous skin brightener, or blend 2-3 pumps into your foundation. For a youthful, dewy, luminous look.'

I bought this product around the middle of last year, used it a couple of times then forgot about it again, until recently that is and I have fell in love with it. I apply this under my foundation and it just illuminates the skin and gives a lovely glow. I sometimes apply it to my cheeks as a highlighter but I do prefer it as just a base. I have also used it mixed in with my foundation but I find applying it on its own (using the same brush as my foundation) works better for me.

Here's what the product looks like.

Here's what the product looks like blended in (as much as the camera will pick up)

I would definitely recommend this product, it is quite pricey at £13.00 but its 30ml and you only need a little. I have been using this everyday lately and will definitely be using it in the summer months to help give me a lovely glow in the sun.

Has anyone else tried this? What are your thoughts?

January Favourites

Urban Decay Naked palate
Ive been reaching for this practically everyday this month, didn't really use it much when I bought it but love it now!
Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation (ivory 100)
Rimmel's newest foundation and thought I would give it a try and love it, gives such a nice glow with medium coverage.
Loreal Super Liner (carbon black)
Been a lot more into eyeliner this month and this one is so easy to use and stays all day.
Yankee Candle lip balm (vanilla cupcake)
How cute is this lip balm! Ive had quite dry lips recently (probably due to the fact that it has gone absolutely freeeeezing here in the UK recently) and have been using both this and carmex to help them out.
Carmex lip balm (cherry)
This is amazing for soothing and moisturising dry lips, works so quickly.
17 blush (china pink)
This adds a lovely flash of colour to the apples of your cheeks.
Tangle Teezer
I have loved this for months but for some reason it hasn't appeared in my monthly favourites so I thought it was about time it was. Since having this I don't use any other kind of brush, its amazing and really has helped my hair feel better since using it!

What are your recent favourites?

Glossybox - Valentines edition

I know Many people have already blogged about this but I thought id post about it still as some people like to see the different products that people get. Here's what I received:

Weleda - One step Cleanser and Toner
Will definitely try this out as I loved the Weleda body oil that was in a previous box.
Murad primer
I don't tend to use primer even though I have a few - will try to incorporate this step into my routine as it looks and feels great.
Orly nail polish - Ruby
Love the colour and will definitely be using this!
FAB gentle body wash
This is a body cleanser that claims to cleanse, calm redness and relieve dry skin. Interested in trying this as its different to the usual shower gel/body wash texture.
Eyeko Skinny eyeliner - plum
Not really a colour I would use but like the look of the product.
